James Berkeley, General Counsel Europe, Unilever

James Berkeley has worked for Unilever since 1999 , most recently as General Counsel Europe, running the regional legal function and advising as part of the European management team based in the Netherlands. James is a member of the Global legal leadership team. Prior to the current role, James was General Counsel for Africa Middle East based in South Africa and then together with the geographies of CEE and Russia based at the global headquarters in London. Before moving to regional responsibilities, he had a number of corporate roles including M&A, outsourcing and global IT, having started his Unilever career in the legal team of the UK foods and home/personal care businesses. Prior to joining Unilever James worked in European legal Operations at Smithkline Beecham , having trained at Nabarros.
