BSB recruits for members of APEX and review panels

The BSB is seeking applications for members of its Advisory Pool of Experts (APEX) and Review Panels. Six members are sought for APEX, who between them should be able to cover the following areas of expertise:

  • Provision of pupillage
  • Advocacy training
  • The teaching of the foundation of law subjects on a Qualifying Law Degree or Graduate Diploma in Law
  • Teaching on the Bar Professional Training Course
  • Supplying legal services to the public either as a barrister or authorised by another approved regulator
  • EU Law, particularly with regard to mutual recognition of qualifications
  • Equality legislation

Three barristers and five lay members are sought for the Review Panels, who will be tasked with reviewing decisions on authorisations and waivers. Each panel will consist of one practising barrister and two lay people. Sound judgement and decision-making skills, the ability to understand and apply regulations and guidelines and knowledge of either higher education or qualification and practice as a barrister are required.
